Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyThu Jan 08, 2009 9:27 pm

Dunham was growing restless. So restless that he was given to tyrades in which he broke the remaining decent furniture in his already dismembered home. Several times he'd gotten into such a fit he'd nearly taken it out on Anna, but he'd restrained himself, if only just barely, by reminding himself that she could possibly be his one and only bartering token to help him find what was currently causing all of his annoyance.

Pandora's box.

Some people scoffed at it, some people trembled in fear at the mention of it, but Dunham only swelled with greed when he thought of it. He didn't want to destroy it or hide from it, he wanted to own it. He wanted the power of it, no matter the consequences. If the man that was currently packing around the "evils" truly existed, Dunham would gladly kill him and take the burden from him.

He wanted this power. This truly indestructible, unbeatable power. And he was nearly ready to do anything for it. Even barter off his own grandmother (if he hadn't already done so, that was).

However, just as Dunham was beginning to resort to mentally listing off each potential family member he could sell for valuable information, what he needed to know showed itself to him. And for free. Dunham most definitely couldn't pass up on this sort of gift either.

Even if it did come from a cloaked and hooded mysterious figured that refused to tell him its name or show him its face. He could only guess from the deep voice and masculine frame that the informative guest was a man. When the man showed up on his doorstep promising information that would lead Dunham to Pandora's box, the demon hardly cared if he was wearing a clown suit under his cloak, or if his name was Janice.

All Dunham cared about was the information that the man had willingly supplied to him, and it was only a bonus that when Dunham had asked him what he wanted in return the man had simply and mysteriously replied, "The chaos that will ensue after the unleashing of Pandora's box is payment enough for me."

It worked out pretty perfectly for them both that way.

And Dunham wasted no time after the man left to begin his preparation for immediate departure, his mind swimming with all the information that the man had told him in relation to finding the box's whereabouts.

Which meant, of course, that he simply opened up his napsack, threw in what clothes he found in the top drawer of his broken dresser, and retrieved Anna from her cramped cell of a room. He gave her a few barking commands, threatened her, as always, of the consequences she would face if she tried to run from him (as he still had plans for using her as a bribing tool and had no choice but to bring her along), and set off that very day, heading into the deep forest of the mountain.

Nightfall, to his aggrivation, came quickly, ignoring his anticipation to continue moving, and, unfortunately, Anna was merely mortal and had to have this period to rest. As she collapsed on the ground after several hours of walking, Dunham spared her a blistering glare.

"Fine, we'll camp here for tonight, but we leave first thing in the morning. I expect you to keep up, Anna," he warned her, sounding very much like a threat.

He put several feet between them and a large rock, which he made his bed on the other side of.

Anna herself laid on her side, facing away from him. She wished that he didn't have infallible demon senses. Though it might have looked like a good chance to anyone else as an opportunity to cut and run, she knew one move in the fleeing direction, and Dunham would be up and reprimanding her.

So, instead, Anna curled her legs halfway to her chest, heaved a sigh, and tried to sleep, wondering if, on their newest adventure, Dunham would finally find someone that would offer to buy her in exchange for information. She dreaded that day.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyThu Jan 08, 2009 10:24 pm

The blood ran down his fangs as they sunk to the bone, the marrow dancing on his taste buds. Julian dropped the stiff critter from his mouth to the ground as he flopped to the ground and began to enjoy his victory over the chase. The prey was more delicious than normal but it had been awhile since he had eaten anything as he had mostly been trotting along till now.

The meat of the animal reminded him of the red, hairless meat the old lady use to flop on the floor as she would yell, “The usual, boy? Rare.” Yet, there was usually more on the floor than on the bone of this rather skinny animal. He began to take notice the emotion of nature in the area, seeming to be the beginning of a depression among the area.

With no more thought and after the last bite, Julian scratched his neck with his hind leg, twirling the collar the old lady had given him with a dog tag that reads “Toby”. Not wanting to stick around any longer, he jumped up after his scratching and began his hike once again. He wasn’t really sure where he was going, other than the direction as he was never good with the names of locations, to him, they were just places.

Night fall wasn’t long after as he came upon a small pond, he lapped the water up out of thirst and to clean the blood and fur from his mouth. The moon was bright and almost a full one as it dared to extend and reach out to its fullest potential. Toby always enjoyed seeing the reflection of the moon in the water and the ripples from his tongue just made the viewing more interesting.

The trance from the pond reflection was ended when he heard the shouting of a man from the distance. He ventured towards the source out of curiosity, boredom and in hopes of meeting a friend. All of those ended when he came to a makeshift campsite as he saw a man with a red and black aura spewing all around him. The earth and trees were stretching away from as far as they could from the man either out of fear or distaste. This man, if he was even a man which Toby doubted, was not something he wanted anything to do with. Toby watched the man turn around and walk behind a rock before he began to leave until a scent caught his attention. This scent didn’t belong to the man and shouldn’t even be near the likes of him. He was immediately curious.

He waited for a bit, till he heard no movement from the man before he crept up the camp with his nose hovering over the ground. The closer he got, the stronger the scent and the stronger his curiosity for the source. And the stronger his curiosity, the faster he went. He finally arrived and came to a surprise, cocking his head to the side, as he had a woman in his sights.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyThu Jan 08, 2009 10:53 pm

Anna heard the rustle of leaves and grass as something approached her, and the usual sense of dread she was accustomed to feeling began to fill her stomach. She'd thought the demon had fallen asleep after nearly an hour of cursing unintelligibly to himself, but, then again, he never failed to disappoint her.

Most likely, his mood was still sour from the fact that her weak mortality had forced them to delay their trip for the night. In this usually habitual mood, Dunham found excuses to continuously harrass and belittle her.

She half-heartedly considered slinging an arm over her face and ignoring him, but that would, most likely, only egg him into a worse mood, perhaps even goading him into giving her a kick in the ribs. Which was not something she wanted to endure tonight. Especially not with the possibility of a long hike in her near future.

For a moment, she persisted to lay still, fighting the urge to do something more than glance weakly upward and await her unprovoked punishment. Just once... Just once she would have liked to have clocked him hard in the jaw. She'd tried before, when he'd first tricked her into signing over her soul, but she had failed, as he'd caught her fist easily in his hand and made her pay for the attempt.

Still, her dreams of retaliation were always hovering in the back of her mind, waiting to become a reality. Not likely, but she could hope.

Grimacing, Anna finally began to wonder why he hadn't said or done anything yet. It was unlike him to allow her the first move. With this question in mind, Anna finally lifted her head, and let out an alarmed, quiet gasp at what she saw.

A wolf was standing only a few feet away, staring at her.

For a moment, she was stricken with a blinding fear, which was ridiculous, considering that she lived with a demon that she could be more afraid of anything else. But Dunham wouldn't kill her, and she knew it. She had no idea, however, if this wolf had other intentions. Her heart beating frantically, Anna wondered if he was going to eat her, and then, ridiculously enough, wondered if Dunham would try to stop him.

Too scared to make any sudden movements, or even to scream, Anna stayed where she was, propped up on her elbows, staring eye to eye with the wolf for several long minutes.

But he didn't move either, didn't even seem to have any intention to. Now that she took the time to notice, he wasn't growling or baring his fangs either.

Shaking slightly, Anna dared to push herself up into a sitting position, and happened to notice the collar around his neck. She frowned. A collar? What was this some sort of oversized house dog? It would explain why he hadn't tried to rip out her throat.

"Um... Good boy?" she attempted quietly, trying not to wake Dunham, and sounded stupid to her own ears.

She saw the gleam of a nametag around the animal's neck, however, and felt that it might shed some light on the matter. Inching carefully toward him, she craned her neck to see if she could possibly read the tag without intruding on the wolf's space.

It was nearly impossible in total darkness, however, and she was forced to risk her arm by reaching slowly out and turning the tag upward.

"Toby?" she read.

Was he someone's pet then? A really large, sort of intimidating pet. Still, he looked harmless at the moment, and it'd been awhile since anything friendly had come around her. Testing her boundaries yet again, Anna raised a tentative hand and patted his head.

"Are you looking for food?" she guessed. "Sorry, I don't have any." Like he could understand her. "I wonder where you came from?"

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyFri Jan 09, 2009 12:04 am

She wasn’t like the man; he knew instantly when he saw her. The aura, though feint and almost lifeless, were nothing but white waves daring to crash against the black. What was she doing with such a monstrous man?

The thoughts were pushed aside when the woman began to move towards him. He could sense she was frightened not only of him but of everything. Her waves were getting smaller with each passing of time and her light was slowly fading.

He wanted to tell her, “Everything is going to be fine.”

But her hand was reaching out towards him now and he didn’t want to startle her. He could see the moonlight shining on her pale skin. He always enjoyed the moon and the beautiful skin only made it more interesting.

The trance ended when he heard the name “Toby” called, perking his ears up as he hadn’t heard that since his time with the old lady. He decided to stay silent; after all, the one who named him Toby never knew he talked either.

He then felt the hand pat his head and he knew why he had traveled here. He decided, then, that a new story in his life was to start tonight. He needed to save her, free her from what ever it was that kept her waves at bay.

With out much more thought, he rushed in and buried his head into the woman legs, rubbing from side to side and then looked up with the intentions of licking her face.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyFri Jan 09, 2009 7:03 am

Anna nearly fell over, somewhere between terrified and touched when Toby suddenly began to nuzzle her legs. She'd still had the half-hearted suspicion that he'd meant to gnaw her legs off, but she was pleasantly surprised to find that he seemed to be greeting her instead. A reluctant smile bloomed on her face, something she hadn't tried out in a long time.

She ran a hand through his shaggy coat again, more than happy to have the possibility of some kind of friend. It'd been a long time since she'd had a comforting presence around her.

She tried to tell herself not to get overly hopefuly, as he had a collar and a tag, and, most surely, an owner out there somewhere. But she couldn't resist thinking that he was lost or long forgotten by that owner and that he could, instead, stay with her. Foolishly, she forgot all about Dunham, but he wasn't one to allow himself to be forgotten.

"What the hell is that?" Anna heard his sharp, angry voice behind her.

Her heart lept to her throw in one terrified motion as she whipped her head around to peer up at Dunham, one of her hands still resting on the wolf's neck.

"Uh..." she mumbled, unable to form a coherent thought.

"Get it out of here," Dunham growled. "We've got a long way to go still. I don't want some mutt following us around."

Anna's heart dropped. Of course she should have expected that Dunham wouldn't be welcoming to the creature, but, now, after it had seemingly come to her at one of her most desperate moments, Anna didn't want to turn him away.

"Can't he...Please, can't he stay?" she fumbled.

Dunham's eyes were two narrow, suspicious slits. "No. I don't want anything holding us up. We're running late as it is now. It's almost daybreak. Get up. Let's get moving."

Though the sun hadn't even began to rise, his eyes were still darkly greedy, thinking reverently of Pandora's box and how close he must be to finding it. Soon, he wouldn't have to worry about some idiot human girl. He wouldn't need her anymore then, and he'd find something fitting to do with her.

Anna, however, was more concerned about keeping her new friend around than her eminent fate.

"Maybe he can help," she suggested, and flinched when Dunham snorted. "Please." She hated begging him for anything, but she was feeling unexplainably desperate. "If you let me keep him, I promise I won't stop walking all day."

This seemed to penetrate Dunham's malicious core. Obviously, her slow, laborous pace was an annoyance to him. He'd been considering upon falling asleep how to deal with it. He really didn't have time for pit stops and breaks in his plan. He had to reach the box first. Though he hated making Anna happy and avoided doing so like the plague, she'd hit a chord when talking about making his venture less burdensome.

"Fine," he snarled, "but keep him in line. One slip up, you have to stop once today and rest, and we'll be eating the dog for dinner tonight. Now, let's go."

Dunham ignored the sickened expression on Anna's face, took up his napsack, and began to march through the woods again at a slightly laborous pace.

Anna spared the dog one furtive, apologetic glance. "I wouldn't blame you if you didn't want to come."

Though she hoped he did as she hurried to catch up with Dunham. Something about the wolf's presence made her feel better than she had in years.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptySat Jan 10, 2009 11:39 pm

He hadn’t planned on being seen by the man but he also really didn’t plan on running into the woman either. It was just a brief in counter with the evil man but Toby could already tell the man had a very unpredictable personality. However, there was something else that Toby was very uneasy about. The man seemed to have his sights on one thing or one goal and whatever it was, he was in a hurry. It’s rarely a good thing when men of his morals tunnel their vision on one target.

Toby turned to Anna after the man was done with his roaring and walked away from the campsite. He saw the apologetic expression on her face but also noticed she was excited and perhaps a little more hopeful than before. She said a few words, rubbed his head one more time and then took off towards the man.

Toby began to watch Anna as she was trying to catch up with the man. He began to wonder why the man, being in a rush seemed to want to keep the woman along despite his shouting that she would only slow him down. There is definitely something here that’s not in plain view.

“Time will tell”, spoke Toby as he rushed off to catch up with the woman and the evil man.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyWed Jan 14, 2009 6:25 am

Anna was gratified when she heard the sound of movement behind her, signifying that Toby had decided to tag along. She knew he was only an animal, but there was something comforting about a friendly presence. It'd been a long time since she'd had one. Though she wasn't sure if the wolf could possibly guess what he was getting himself into.

Dunham Hakon was not exactly the ideal man to be hiking through the forest with. He was a man accustomed to cursing, but it was still unpleasant to witness. He cursed the low-hanging branches, the dense, wild grass. He cursed the sun, cursed the slight breeze in the air, and, of course, spared a couple of his darker, more vehement curses for Anna herself.

She ignored them, letting them roll, a little painfully, off of her shoulders. She glanced sideways at Toby a few times when he aimed his hatred in her direction, somehow mildly embarassed that the wolf had witnessed her belittlement.

Dunham didn't care, one way or another, if he hurt Anna's feelings. She was an object to him. Not a person. Humans would never be his equal. If he even had an equal at all, which he doubted.

While the woman behind him seemed to be tiring, Dunham quicked his pace, turning it from hurried to something near ferocious. If he was judging things correctly-- the position of the sun, the time they'd left the camp-- they should have been very close to their destination.

And he wasn't mistaken. Within another hour, they could see the distant silhouette of a small town. Within an hour and a half, they were inside of that small town. A town that looked a little worse for wear. A town that might have been considered abandoned.

Standing on what Dunham felt was the main street through the town, he glared first to his right, then to his left, narrowing his eyes, trying to make out something that only he knew about. He hadn't told Anna where they were going or why. It wasn't any of her concern, after all. She had to do his bidding regardless.

Making up his mind, Dunham took a sharp left, stalked past two run-down buildings, and paused before a third. It looked to have once been a tavern, but the sign was scarred and weathered beyond repair. The man he was looking for was just inside. Or should be.

Scowling, Dunham cut his glare in Anna's direction momentarily, wrinkling his nose as he spotted the wolf at her side. He'd almost forgotten about the creature, and he was beginning to regret having let it tag along. Anna seemed a fraction calmer than she usually was, and Dunham didn't care for that. Still, there were other things to deal with first.

"Wait here," he snapped. "I'm not sure how long I'll be, but, try anything, and you know the consequences."

He gave her a look as if to dare her to object, but, as he expected, she remained quiet and unresponsive. Satisfied--as much as he could be-- Dunham turned swiftly, pushed open the door to the tavern, and stepped inside, leaving Anna and the wolf to fend for themselves for awhile.

And, with any luck, when he stepped back out, he'd be that much closer to the Box.

PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyFri Jan 16, 2009 7:59 pm

Toby was very interested in what was so important in the normal looking building but was also concerned with the woman. Now would be a great time to escape from this man while away from him and in town yet she didn’t seem to make any move. He began to wonder if he was severely underestimating this mans power, physically and mentally.

Not wanting to linger on that thought any longer, Toby shook his body, sending his fur into a twisting frenzy. As soon as his fur calmed down, he walked over and sat down by Anna and wildly raised his head up to look at her.

He also began to realize that this may take longer than he had hoped for but that doesn't mean he couldn't enjoy the moments like now.

Away from the man.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptySat Jan 17, 2009 12:33 pm

ooc: This is going to be kind of long, because I have to tell what Dunham's doing too. So sorry in advance for the novel you're about to read. Smelly =)

bic:
Anna kept her head down until Dunham had disappeared into the tavern. She hoped, half-heartedly, that whatever or whoever he was looking for inside the old, broken bar would kill him. But she wasn't naive enough to think that her hopes would be fulfilled. She often wished something would kill him, but nothing ever had, and she was beginning to think that nothing ever would.

She didn't know if he was the most powerful force out there, but he was certainly one of the more cunning forces. She imagined he could slip out of any unfavorable situation. Which meant she was out of luck. She was stuck with the monster. Possibly forever. At least for however long her flimsy human life lasted.

Still, even knowing this, she couldn't help but to feel the creeping, frightening desire crawling through her to run. It happened every time that he left her somewhere without supervision, every time that she was given a glimpse of freedom. Standing now in the middle of this mostly abandoned town, Anna was more than tempted to flee. Or to try to. Dunham was inside of the tavern preoccupied with something that seemed to be extremely important to him, and he'd left her, standing here, with no walls to hold her in.

She could pick any direction she wanted and flee into the woods.

It seemed easy. It seemed like the practical choice.

To keep from doing it, Anna took a seat on the ground beside Toby. If she ran, he'd find her. Easily. Or kill her. He owned her soul, after all. He could do whatever suited him best. Frowning, Anna absently lifted a hand and ran her fingers through Toby's thick fur, thinking, for a moment, of how nice it'd have to been to have been a wolf instead of what she was.

She spared Toby a speculative glance.

"How come you're still sticking around?" she wondered aloud.

Surely there was a surpluss of more preferable things to do than being forced to follow Dunham Hakon around. It would have been nice. Anna felt the unforgiving squeeze of regret.

"Thanks," she murmured softly, somehow grateful that, for the time being, Toby did seem to be intent on sticking around.

She sighed. "It's just too bad that you can't talk. It'd be nice to have someone around to agree with me about how much of a bastard that demon is."

She glared purposefully at the door to the tavern, hoping, again, that whatever was inside would decide to murder him.

-----

Dunham didn't have to worry about picking anyone out from the crowd. There was only two people inside of the bar. One was the bar keep, and the other was a solitary creature sitting at the bar. Cloaked in the same hooded cloak as the first man that had sent Dunham on his quest.

Strolling pompously across the tattered wooden flooring of the tavern, Dunham went straight for the bar, daring to seat himself on a stool beside the cloaked figure without invitation.

"How did you find me?" the mysterious man questioned abruptly and without turning. His voice was low and ancient, with a slight hiss.

"I followed the smell," Dunham responded.

This brought a true hiss from the figure, and, for a brief second, Dunham caught a glimpse of a glittering pair of fangs being brandished in his direction from underneath the hood.

"You dare say such a thing to me when you smell of rot?" the man, which Dunham was now sure was a vampire, snarled. "What do you want, demon? I have no patience for your kind."

Dunham rolled his shoulders, absently gesturing at the vampire's empty shot glass, noticing that there was what appeared to be a faint ring of red around its bottom.

"A friend of yours sent me this way," Dunham told him. "He seems to think you know where I can find the box."

Dunham could almost hear the vampire grind his teeth together at the mention of Pandora's box. He saw the man's nearly translucent white hand wrap more tightly around his glass.

"Why would I tell you of the box?" he snapped. "Surely you know what could happen."

Dunham nodded. "I want those powers."

The vampire laughed dryly. "Why should I want you to have them?"

Knowing when and how to play on someone's weaknesses, Dunham reached over and easily plucked the vampire's shot glass from his hand. The vampire hissed at him in response, but Dunham merely waved the empty glass in his face.

"I have a human," he said simply. "And you seem to be in need of a drink."

With the vampire looking in his direction, Dunham could see that he'd struck the right chord. The vampire's pale green eyes seemed to glow momentarily with new life, filling with what Dunham had rightly guessed was hunger.

"What game do you play?" the vampire rasped.

"None." Dunham shrugged. "I let you have a drink, and you tell me where I can find the box. Now, I'm going to need her later, so you can only have a drink. But I figure that's more than fair. You know how hard it is to come by humans these days."

The vampire did seem to know that. Grunting, he got swiftly to his feet in a swirl of black cloth. "Let me see her."

Dunham stood as well, turning quickly so that the vampire wouldn't see the triumphant grin that spread widely across his face. Without giving him a word, Dunham led him quietly outside, stopping just outside the doors and gesturing to where Anna was sitting beside the wolf.

The vampire paused, studying Anna with his hungry green eyes. He released a slight groan, one driven by his thirst and the insufferably long time it'd been since he'd drank human blood. Still, he had one reservation.

"She smells like dog." The cloaked head glared toward Toby.

Dunham's answering fury was quickly smothered with a calm, cold smile. He'd known he should have done something about the mutt beforehand. But he couldn't lose now.

"Take it or leave it, vampire. You won't get another chance."

The vampire growled, but stood silently for several long minutes, seeming to consider.

PostSubject: I'm not smelly!   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptySat Jan 17, 2009 11:43 pm

((OOC: My scent is nothing but pure manliness and sex thank you very much. Also with a dash of wheat thins and I just went to Buffalo Wild Wings so I probably have that smell on me..

Also..somehow I lost all I had typed for the reply..so your stuck with a short version of crap like features out of spite.))

She wanted him to talk and he wanted to do nothing else but that. But what would she think? Would she feel deceived? He had led her into believing he was nothing but an animal and would she think he was just like that evil man.

That seemed to strike a nerve with Toby with the thought of him deceiving anyone, especially someone like Anna. He had to tell her before it had gone on any longer.

Unfortunately, the man walked out of the building abruptly with another person following behind him. The two men exchanged remarks, mostly at Anna’s and his expense.

The remarks didn’t bother Toby at all as he was mostly concerned with the other man and how his role in things will play out.

Especially since he appeared to be a vampire.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptySun Jan 18, 2009 12:30 am

ooc: It refused your post because you smell. I already explained this.

bic:
Anna went slightly rigid at Toby's side, becoming instantly wary as Dunham reappeared with the unfamiliar man at his side. A sliver of fear laced her heart. Was this it? Had he finally found someone to bargain her for? Without realizing it, Anna's fingers tightened in Toby's fur.

After a long, uncomfortable silence, the vampire shifted slightly, turning toward Dunham.

"Fine," he growled.

The vampire started to move forward, but Dunham lifted a hand, giving him a cool and measured look, the same calm, commanding smile on his face. He tilted his head to the side, his smile turning into a long and wicked grin.

"I'd like my information first."

The vampire hesitated, though he seemed to be leaning in Anna's direction. The smell of her blood had already reached him, and it was obvious that he was struggling with temptation. After only a moment's debate, he growled, low and long, and then gave Dunham the information he was seeking, telling him the exact and last location the box had been spotted. As well as a description of the man.

Once he'd spilled and Dunham was satisfied with the details, he simply snapped his fingers.

“Anna,” he called to her, but it was an unmistakable command.

As tempted as she was to stay at Toby’s side, Anna was forced to respond. She got shakily to her feet, though her knees threatened to buckle and spill her back onto the ground. She didn’t have any other choice but to move and stand by Dunham.

Who, in turn, snatched her wrist hastily, jerked her forward, and offered it to the vampire. Almost reflexively, Anna tried to jerk away, though she knew better than to fight back against Dunham. However, as the vampire’s cold hand clamped around her wrist, Anna wasn’t very concerned about Dunham’s rules, since she was fairly certain he’d just signed her death certificate.

When the vampire started to lift her wrist to the opening in his hood, Anna gave a strangled, frightened cry, and actually tried to wrench her wrist away. But her strength was like a mouse’s against a lion’s. She might have just as well been trying to move a boulder. As if she hadn’t moved an inch, the vampire simply lifted her wrist to what she assumed was his mouth under the cloak and sunk his fangs into her fragile wrist. She screamed then, as the first flash of blinding pain struck, and she swung at the vampire with her free hand.

It never met its target, however, as Dunham caught it in one of his own, holding her still and immobile as the vampire drank and depleted her life source.

She’d never felt such pain before. The burning in her wrist felt like he’d severed it in half and lit it on fire. Try as she might to get away from it, Anna couldn’t. She was held between two immortals with nowhere to run. All she could think was that this was it. She’d met her end.
As her vision began to haze and darken and her body went limp, Anna thought perhaps death would be better than what she had to endure anyway.

But Dunham had other plans, and they needed to be tended to. Since he wasn’t quite sure if he’d need Anna again, he also couldn’t allow the vampire to kill her, which hadn’t been part of their deal anyone. Feeling generous and vindictive, however, he allowed the vampire to drink until he felt the pulse in her wrist nearly fade completely. Then, with an unceremonious jerk, he tugged her out of the vampire’s grip.

“All right, pal, you’re done.”

As the vampire hissed greedily at him, Dunham lifted Anna’s unconscious body into his arms, giving the vampire a humorless grin. “Thanks for the help, but it’s time we were leaving.”

Without a glance at the wolf, Dunham turned and began the trek back out of the town they’d come into. The lonely, deserted town in the middle of a dense forest. He left in the opposite direction of which he’d came, directing himself in a path only he was certain of, toting Anna in his arms like a ragdoll.

He hiked on until nightfall when he’d become thoroughly annoyed and tired of carrying Anna. She wasn’t heavy to him, or really a burden at all, but he didn’t like the idea of doing her any favors, and he didn’t care for the feel of her in his arms. He couldn’t get over his deep-pitted dislike of humans, no matter what the circumstance.

For only this reason he set up camp, though he was anxious to get to his destination. He left Anna, still unconscious on one side of the fire he constructed and tucked himself in for a night’s worth of sleep on the other side, keeping downwind so that he didn’t have to smell her scent every time the wind blew. She really was more trouble than she was worth.

Dunham fell asleep with a scowl on his face.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyMon Jan 19, 2009 8:30 pm

The music the bodies. Everything around him one or the other evils wanted something to do with. Blaine had already taken care of a few different woman that now needed to leave him alone before he smacked them. They were like addicted heroin fends. Blaine pushed away from them and walked over to the bar. He ordered a scotch and walked over to the window.

It was funny how easily he had gotten away from the two pains in his ass. The vampire the the thing called Eonoe. They were like mothering hens. He needed time alone. It was like a breath of fresh air.

" Do you enjoy your scotch on the rocks?" A woman's voice cooed. Blaine looked over at her and smiled,' No but you would look wonderful on them." He grinned and pushed the woman off the balcony to her death. Good she was better dead away you could smell the desiese on her like a perfume. Aids so nice. Better than taking her to the car and stuffing her face in the tolit and letting her drink the scum. It would have been funny.

Blaine imagined what he would have said to her as she gurgled for her life." Does the piss taste as good as the filth you give to unknowing men out of anger? The head little head would float to the top as her last breath bubbled out.

Nathaniel walked over to Blaine and tapped him on the shoulder. Blaine spun around and grinned. " My dear friend its been so long where is your dear sister?"

Nat smirked and said," You have changed lately. I sort of miss the geek that liked my sister."

Blaine sighed and realized that the love her felt for Kinsa was not a lie from the evils its was his own feeling. He did care for the girl it was better for her to hide from him." Yeah but your sister would never know what ot do with the new me." Blaine retorted and grabbed girl's ass next to him and pulled her around to look at him." But this one on the other hand." Blaine pulled her up into his arms and her legs wrapped around his waist. The girl had to be drunk to so easily be so willing.

Nat laughed and touched Blaine's shoulder," I am glad you never had the balls to talk to her."

The girl giggled and said," O I think This here Jester could give you a run for your money Nat. Well from what i could tell." She moaned and dipped her head so that she could nibble on Blaine's neck.

Nat raised and eye brow laughed," I am sure. Did you have a growth spurt or Does the evils really make you like this?" Nat got very serious now watching the man he once knew act like a horny toad. That was his job dammit.

Blaine dropped the girl and looked at Nat." you know you were always to brave for your own good." Anger rolled in Blaine's veins and he grabbed the werewolf's neck. " I think I might just find your pretty little kinsa and break her in. " Blaine tilted his head to the side and spotted Kinsa. Her dark hair flowed around her face making herr look so soft. Blaine licked his lips and anger fell away. Nat kicked him in the ribs and growled as he hit the floor. " Your a bastard."

" That makes two of us." Blaine growled back." just leave me alone Its not the night to fight with me."

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyMon Jan 19, 2009 8:47 pm

Toby’s teeth were bared and he was ready to strike with all of the might he could muster. He had never really been in a fight with a vampire before, much less with a demon by his side. Actually, he hadn’t been in a battle with any type of bipedal but it didn’t matter. He had to try something, anything to free her from the fangs of the vile creature. It was decided, his target was the vampire’s side or arm, if nothing else, and he could injure it and hopefully set her free.

He was about to pounce when the man suddenly pulled Anna away from the vampire. This left Toby if standing stance as his front paws lifted up from the ground but neither of the two paid any heed. In fact, Dunham was already walking away with Anna in his arms. He sensed she was still alive but very weak.

The only thing he could do then was follow them while the man walked through the day. Toby had kept his distance from the man, not wanting to spark his anger with Anna in her current state and position. The hike seemed to last for ages as he did nothing but worry and try to sneak a peak of Anna from a far.

Finally, the man came to a stop and dropped the woman to the ground and walked away from her as he usually did when they rested for the night. After more waiting that seemed to last forever, Toby crept up to the where Anna was unconscious. He felt the pain in his stomach as he looked at her, he should have acted faster when the vampire drank.

It was too late now, another lesson learned, he decided as he curled up beside her.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyMon Jan 19, 2009 9:24 pm

Dunham lay still for awhile, somewhere close to an hour. He heard the four padding footsteps that signaled that the wolf had entered his new campsite, but, for the moment, he let it be. His mind was too consumed with thoughts of how close they were to be concerned over such a thing as an animal pest. After all, he hadn't done anything that demanded he be taken care of as of yet.

He rolled to one side, then to the other, and then lay flat on his back again. There was no use trying to sleep. They were so close he could nearly taste the victory. A few more miles and everything he’d ever wanted would be his. Having a heart blackened with greed, Dunham couldn’t stand this sort of anticipation.

Finally, after his long internal debate, he rolled deftly to his feet. He sent an annoyed glance in Anna’s direction, saw the wolf curled up at her side, and sneered. She was still, apparently, unconcious, and he had no intent or desire to carry her again. Especially considering that his next span of hiking would bring him to the box, and he was going to need his hands free to deal with whatever came. He couldn’t be worrying about her. Though, in all reality, he’d never worried about her as long as he’d known her.

Deciding, his gaze dropped to the wolf.

“I’ll be back,” he warned, though it was absurd to talk to an animal.

However, he’d felt that he’d need to give this warning to someone, and as Anna was unconscious, she wouldn’t have heard it. He hesitated only a second longer, and decided that, either way he cut it, the box was more valuable to him than Anna. If something happened to her while he was gone, it was just an act of fate, and as long as he came back with the power he thirsted for, he didn’t care if the ground suddenly opened and swallowed her whole.

He smiled at that. Then, without further ado, he turned and strode away, now able to walk as fast as he pleased. In truth, once out of view of the wolf, he broke into a sort of frenzied run, anticipation egging him on.

On his own, it took him, more or less another 3 hours before he reached the town he was searching for. The club was easy to find, as the vampire had told him it would be. Practically licking his lips, Dunham wasted no time, but strolled right in. He searched the crowd for a man of the appropriate description, and, when he spotted him, his chest gave a pleasurable squeeze. Finally. Finally, finally, finally. So close.

Without question or greeting, Dunham sat next to the man at the bar, his excitement practically humming through the air. However, he greeted the man with cold, malicious grin.

“Ah, so I’ve finally found you,” was his greeting, as cold and malicious as his grin. “I believe we have some things to discuss.”

Dunham gave a casual glance around at the crowded and cramped club. Lots of witnesses. He didn't always mind them, as he enjoyed torturing anyone within range, but he wanted this moment to himself. No mistakes. No chances.

"Why don't we step outside?" he offered, though he wasn't entirely expecting the man to accept. "I prefer not to make public messes."

As if in anticipation, Dunham's demon tail had come into view, wrapping comfortably around his own leg. His demon side always tried to break through in moments like these, when he sensed a fight of worth on the horizon. For the moment, however, his horns and scales stayed hidden.

Having set idle for long enough, he stood, nodding toward the door. "Shall we?" His lips turned up at the corners devilishly. "Come along. I don't want to make a scene, but I can and will if tempted."

Practically pulsing with his own excitement, Dunham strolled out as arrogantly as he'd come in, hiking a short distance until he stood just inside the line of trees. Just incase anyone decided to peek outside. And there he waited. Waited for what, he didn't know. But this man, one way or another, was going to give him the box.
------
Anna stirred restlessly. Somewhere through the haze of her mind, she felt the burning pain of fire. It felt like someone was holding her wrist over an open flame. She groaned, trying to shift away from it, and felt something solid against her side that prevented the movement. So instead she floated somewhere between nightmares and reality.

She was vaguely aware that she was asleep. Or something close to it. But her lids felt too heavy to lift, and all she could do was issue a feeble groan. Still, she fought it, and, bit by bit, she began to surface. First, the dark green leaves of a tree overhead swam into focus, then the smell of burning wood from the fire Dunham had lit reached her nose. After some time, the ground stopped spinning as well.

Holding onto it, she pushed herself up into a sitting position. “Where…?”

She glanced down, finding that the weight against her side had been Toby. She stared bleerily at him, her eyes squinting, blinking, and then finally focusing. For a moment, the pain in her wrist was forgotten, as she fought to keep the memories away as to why it was hurting in the first place.

“Toby,” she spoke softly, then paused to look around. “Where’s… Where’s Dunham?”

After a moment, fear began to paint its way across her face, draining her cheeks of color and making her appear ghastly pale. Where had he gone? Had he left her here to die? Or was she supposed to go and find him? What was going on? He’d never left her alone some place like this. Without even telling her anything, without even warning her. Maybe he was nearby. Maybe he expected her to come to him.

Feeling frantic and panicked, Anna shoved to her feet, and stumbled drunkenly for several minutes before she could right herself and force her knees not to buckle. Trying to fight for calm, she began to circle the campsite, and, when she found the imprints of Dunham’s large booted feet walking away from the campsite, she felt both a trickle of relief and despair. He’d have wanted her to follow him of course.

Still, she glanced back at Toby. She didn’t want to go hiking around the woods alone.

“Come on, Toby,” she called to him. “Come on. I have to go and find him.”

She gestured vaguely for him to follow, and started to walk, hoping the wolf would get the hint and follow after.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyMon Jan 19, 2009 10:06 pm

Blaine watched the woman dance and it became such a bore. My god their bodies rocked back anf orth was not heavenly after how many shots they had in their systems. It was like watching a cat on cat nip trying to walk and you kicking it in the ass to move. Kicking in the ass heheh. Blaine walked over and kicked one girl face first into another woman and it went all wild. Fist and fasle hair went flying. Blaine caught a pick of what looked like blonde extensions. Well now how fake people can be." Watch out becareful of her tits THEY MIGHT POP."Blaine Yelled over the girls screams and walked back of to grab his tenth glass of scotch and tossed it back.

Soon enough Nat and all the bouncers were trying to calm the half naked pussy cats. Meow hiss. Blaine thought.Slwoly the rap turned off and some old school rock hit the walls and seemed to calm the air a bit. It was like hell got the idea that it might be nice to chill for a while. Then a song Blaine so could enjoy filled the air. Lump. O yes.

People danced around and Blaine bobbed to the music and then the chores struck a note in his cold heart just awe.

She's lump, she's lump
She's in my head
She's lump, she's lump, she's lump
She might be dead

Blaine grinned and looked out the window. Yes she was dead along with a few others. She was a lump of fresh meat for the fishies. Blaine rocked out a bit more and chanted the chores everything is came on.

Is this lump outta my head?
I think so

"Yes and on a rock down below," Blaine breathed to himself. Then his high was pulled back and all the evils became nothing. A man no a creature was next to him. The demons knew it was now they had something more than toys to play with and one was going to take its turn because all of them at once was a mess.

" Awe you looked for me." Blaine ordered another drink and looked over at the man with a grin on his black lips." Sorry to burst your wittle buble but I like my fuck buddies with more here." He rubbed his nipples and finished as he grabbed his ball." and less here I have enough to take care of my partner. Have a great night bud."

Blaine slipped his his fingers around his new glass and raised it to his lips. A mess? Really. Sounds fun. His eyes light up and he spun around to the man " Awe but it would be so much fun to play hard to get." Blaine titled his head to the side and watched the demon's tail wrapped around his leg. " Awe is that suppose to make me tremble? " Anger rose to the occasion. The demon beneath Blaine's skin rolled around. Almost ready to rip free from Blaine skin.

The man talked more shit being a bad ass or something them turned and walked out like a bitch that he was. Blaine liked his lips ready for flesh for death for everything he could get his hands on. Blaine almost wanted to Pout no fun nor mess well he could take care of thatRight before Blaine could hit the door one more song caught his attention.

Movin to the country gonna eat a lot of peaches
Im movin to the country Im gonna eat me a lot of peaches
Im movin to the country Im gonna eat a lot of peaches
Movin to the country Im gonna eat a lot of peaches
Peaches come from a can they were put there by a man
In a factory downtown
If I had my little way Id eat peaches everyday
Sun soakin bulges in the shade

Movin to the country Im gonna eat a lot of peaches
Movin to the country Im gonna eat a lot of peaches
Im movin to the country gonna eat a lot of peaches
Movin to the country gonna eat a lot of peaches

I took a little nap where the roots all twist
Squished a rotten peach in my fist
And dreamed about you woman
I poked my finger down inside makin a little room for a ant to hide
Natures candy in my hand or can or a pie

Millions of peaches peaches for me
Millions of peaches peaches for free
Millions of peaches peaches for me
Millions of peaches peaches for free

A peachy looking woman stagard towards him and Blaine felt his mouth fill with saliva. She crashed into him.

Look out

Blaine Smirked and licked his Lips. His mouth ripped wide open and his face pulled out in a instant to look like a jackel.

Millions of peaches peaches for me

“ O yes Peashes For me,” He barked at the girl and she screamed but the crowd was into the music.

Millions of peaches peaches for free
Millions of peaches peaches for me
Millions of peaches peaches for free

“Look out”, Blaine finished the song with the music and ripped the woman’s throat out with one nice bite from his long jaws. Blood flowed over him and the crowd. People screamed and Blaine crackled and tossed the body at the crowd. “ She was a peach.” With that he vanished from the crowd and next to the man in the woods line.

Blaine’s face pulled back to look normal. Well normal for him with the makeup and blood. “ So what did you want? I was having fun and you had to spoil it your sooo Mean.” Blaine licked his lips and his eyes flared red.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyMon Jan 19, 2009 10:39 pm

Dunham heard the screams, but, before he could turn back, the man was suddenly at his side. The first thing he noticed was the blood on his face. Yes, this was definitely the man he was looking for. Though he could have learned a thing or two of manners with the way he leered at him. Dunham snorted. What the hell? He wasn’t much for manners himself. Being refined simply helped him when he needed to be persuasive. This man did not look like the type to be persuaded by words.

“Then let’s not waste any time.”

His eyes flashed once, reflecting the black of his pupils. His tail dragged the ground in one lazy sweep. He was finally facing the man that had the box. Now all he had to do was figure out how to get his hands on it. He wanted the power that this man was so obviously riding on. He wanted to be able to control that.

“You have something I want, and I’ve come to take it,” he informed him.

It’d been a long time coming, and all the things he’d done to get here… All the bargains, all the questions, all the murders. Finally he’d found the one man that was key to it all. A deep contented sigh seemed to rumble somewhere down inside of him, while a new sensation of heat surged upward to fill his chest. His own power—substantial, though weak compared to what he’d heard of the box—rumbled to life in anticipation of a fight.

Soon, his tail wasn’t the only part of him that was visibly demon. His flesh began to twist and turn, shifting and thickening and hardening, until he was surrounded by an orangish-red sort of armor. His demon scales covered his body, his face, while horns grew long and sharp from the top of his head. When the transformation was complete, he gave a sigh.

“Ah yes, this is better.” He rolled his shoulders.

It’d been a long time since he’d been able to be in full demon form. The need for it simply hadn’t risen in quite some time. Now, it was finally here, and he could embrace it happily. He missed the power he felt from it. Even though he was only human in appearance when he wanted to be, his mortal form made him feel significantly weaker.

“Now,” he began, shifting a little and then starting to pace around the man, “I’ve come for Pandora’s box, and I’ve been told, by several sources, that you are the one that holds it.”

Dunham lifted his hand, curling his clawed, scaly fingers into his palm, flexing his muscles, preparing for a fight.

“The only question is, are you going to give it to me without a fight?” Dunham chuckled. “Or am I going to have to kill you?”

The demon side of him hoped for the latter. He always enjoyed a good blood bath. In fact, he was starting to crave it. He could half-imagine the warm splatter of the man’s blood on his hands now. Beautiful.

Finally, he came to a stop, somehow having situated himself only about a step away from the man in question. As impatient as always, Dunham wasn’t certain if he wanted to wait for the answer.

"I certainly hope you're not the coward I've pegged you for," Dunham continued on suddenly. Why wait for a fight when he could start one? "After all, I don't find it very courageous to be in hiding. Who are you afraid of, my friend? Your shadow?"
----
Anna came to a stumbling halt several feet away from a gruesome sight. She’d never seen Dunham in his demon form, but she was certain from the demon’s swagger that it was indeed him that was pacing around an unknown man. He hadn’t seen her yet, and she was thankful for that. He’d once told her that he had to be truly pissed or ready to fight to transform. This knowledge made him even more frightening than usual.

Careful not to be spotted, Anna ducked quickly behind a bush, peeking around the side to spy the two men, wondering who this newcomer was. Maybe Dunham hadn’t meant for her to follow him after all. A sickened feeling weaved uncomfortably in her stomach. She wasn’t certain she wanted to witness whatever he was going to do.

Taking a deep breath, she pulled back behind the bush and sat as still and quietly as possible. What was she going to do? Should she try to find their camp again and turn back? Uncomfortable and frightened, Anna looked around for Toby, needing the comfort of another presence once again. Maybe she could just sit here and wait it out.

PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyMon Jan 19, 2009 10:58 pm

Toby knew something wasn't right when he came to Anna's side. One look from behind the bush said it all as the demon was twisted into is true form. He had no idea what to make of the other man staring at Dunham. There was something powerful and tormented there, something beyond his scope of insight.

Nothing good could come from this confrontation, nothing but suffering and more evil.

He looked over at Anna, she wasn’t safe here and neither was he. Now was the time to run if anything or at least leave the area. He knew what he had to do despite it being nothing but bad timing.

Truth be told, there is never such a thing as good timing in this world.

No more delays, Toby thought as he spoke, “We need to get away from here..”

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyMon Jan 19, 2009 11:09 pm

Blaine watched the show. Wow oo awe he is soo cute you just wanted to pinch his little scaly cheeks and then piss in his face. Hehe or maybe piss in his cheerios. Blaine twitched his nose side to side thinking. What was this man talking about. Wittle old Blaine had something he wanted. Geez he really needed to make sure his internet dating profile said FEMALE only. So things are just over the top ever for a insane possessed human with a bit of scitzo added to the mix.

Blaine scratched the back of his head and watched the demon act all big and bad as he shifted. Was it like a talent or something to go from ugly to worse? Blaine grinned and figured the demon must just miss having people scream in disgust as he towered over them. Godzilla. Yep that had to that guy’s name Godzilla. “ Are you sure that’s better? I mean at least I don’t have to think about your soft flesh trying to take my man hood, I guess. I mean we soo could talk this out. I could find you a nice guy that would just love taking you out for dinner and some reach around later. “ Blaine pulled out his phone and said,” What’s your number I think I figured out your name, Its Godzilla right. Wait smile big guys.” Blaine snapped a picture of the demon and started to input info.

Then the thing started to make sense he wanted the evils. Godzilla need a power boost. Okay. “ Yeah I guess I hold the box sort of, Godzillla.” Then the thing wanted to fight. Blaine slapped his phone shut and then clapped his hands like a little kid.” Yay Me. I need a good tussle to warm up my blood before taking a night on the town. You might just be a bit of fun after all But remember exist only. I will get you flowers later.” Blaine smiled.

Anger flew out of Blaine’s mouth after the insult of hiding. Hiding really? “ Godzilla the only one hiding was you. In the closet with a blanket around your head so that everyone could think you were straight. I one the other hand have been getting comfortable in my new body. Well WE all have. “ A laugh flowed out of Blaine’s mouth. It was not just one single laugh but the laugh of all the evils in one. Anger took back over but something caught his eye.

A woman slid to a stop a bit away from them. She looked at Godzilla and then hid in the bushes. Why would she stay. Blaine looked up at the thing. She must be his toy. Most demon’s had them. The bastard. Yet something about the girl pulled at Blaine’s interest. Was it her long dark locks or her hazel eyes. Or was it her umm curves.

Blaine licked his lips but Anger took over. His skin ripped away from his body and arms cracked and snapped into place as he shifted from human to a creature like a jackal but larger and more demon like. Blaine cracked his neck and gave Godzilla wolfish grinned,” See that’s how you shift. My god did you really not realized that the long it takes the easier it is to kill you. You’re lucky I play fair. Well sometimes.” Blaine Snarled and Smashed into Dunham head on. His teeth gnashed At Dunham’s face at first then Blaine licked Dunham’s face from his jaw all the way up to his eye.” Yuck you taste like ass Godzilla.” Blaine barked as he kicked off Dunham in the stomach and flipped backwards looking for the girl.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyMon Jan 19, 2009 11:39 pm

ooc:This is going to really freaking suck cause I'm tired. I promise to do better at a reasonable hour next time. xD

bic:
The longer Blaine spoke, the angrier Dunham became. A red haze began to blotch his vision as the man threw out one insult after the other, prodding, poking, and riling him up to his breaking point. He started to take a step forward, to smash his fist into Blaine's smart ass mouth, but he stopped in his tracks when the man threw back his head and laughed.

Dunham had never heard such laughter before, as if it was laughter from several voices mingling and mixing with one. Suddenly, hundreds of little puzzle pieces began to click together. He recalled the expression on Blaine's face about being the "holder". Was the box even a material item? Or was it... Was it the man himself?

Dunham's dark eyes narrowed suspiciously. This made thing slightly more interesting. And slightly more difficult. How did he take something that wasn't a material item? He hoped it was the way he was considering... The only way he could think of to rob anyone of anything precious.

However, before he could make his decision, Dunham was blindsided when Blaine suddenly sprang forward at him, ramming into him and knocking him half-senseless as he caught him off guard. He let out a huff as his breath whooshed out of his lungs, and then a grunt as he fought to get his hands up and knock Blaine off.

It wasn't until the man took a generous swipe at his face with his tongue that Dunham realized he'd shifted into.. something else. His eyes widened, but he wasn't allowed a decent look. Blaine had other plans. He felt the beast's feet dig into his chest as he used him for his own personal spring board, and he was knocked down as Blaine catapulted off of him, landed, and headed away.

At first, he thought he was fleeing, and then he saw... Anna.
-----
Anna had started to offer a weak, timid smile in Toby's direction as the wolf suddenly emerged from the brush, but that smile never reached completion. It faded into oblivion.

“We need to get away from here..”

She blinked, startled, staring down at Toby. The voice...It hadn't been hers. And it had come from... Toby?

"W-What?" she stuttered.

Had he...? Was she going crazy? There was no possible way that the wolf had just spoken to her. She knew she was desperate for his presence, desperate for the comfort of a friendly face--or muzzle, on his behalf--but this... this was pushing it.

"Did you...?" Of course not. That was lunacy.

Against her better judgement, she released a strangled laugh. She'd imagined it of course. She was only hearing what she was thinking. She had to get out of here. Still, she glanced down at Toby again. There was something entirely too... human on his face. As if he knew what was going on. That wasn't possible, was it? Unless he was human. Anna started as if she'd been slapped. Was he a shifter?

"Are you...? What are you, Toby?" she demanded. "Did you just...? Oh, God, I'm finally going crazy."

As if to redeem herself, Anna lifted her hands and pressed them shakily to her eyes for several minutes, taking in a couple of deep breaths. So the wolf following her around was a shifter. Okay. That explained things. It explained why she felt comfortable around him, safe. So what? He was a shifter. No big deal. Anna felt a lump of hysteria rise in her throat, but fought it down. Whatever the situation, he was right.

"Okay, let's go," she agreed, but once they had gotten a safe distance away, he had some questions to answer.

However, as Anna pushed to her feet, she saw, just in time, that the strange man who'd been with Dunham was heading her way. In fear, she froze in her tracks, only able to issue forth a small, insignificant whimper.
-----
Blaine had already done more than coax his anger to life. He'd all but doused it with gasoline and lit a match underneath it. However, seeing the man marching toward Anna-- his servant, his prize, his possession-- Dunham felt his anger spike even higher. He didn't think as he righted himself, didn't feel fear or apprehension against what he was facing as he marched forward.

All he had in mind was that no one knocked him down like that, no one embarrassed him like that, and no one as sure as hell didn't go after his human like that while he was around. There was a battle light in Dunham's black eyes as he followed behind Blaine. A bloodlust filling his heart.

He didn't know what the beast was intending for Anna, and he didn't care to find out. He was going to stop him in his tracks regardless, and, hopefully, he was going to get what he wanted out of him as well. Without a thought to the consequences, Dunham disappeared abruptly, only to reappear directly behind Blaine.

"I don't think so, jackal," he hissed in Blaine's ear, fairly certain that that was what Blaine had transformed into. "She's mine, and now I'll be taking what's yours as well."

With a vindictive thrust, Dunham whipped his tail upward and drove it straight through Blaine's back and out the other side. Hoping to hell that he pierced the beast's heart. The bastard had underestimated him, and he was going to teach him a lesson for it.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyTue Jan 20, 2009 11:15 am

Anna whispered along Blaine's mind. One of the evils pushed at him trying to get him closer to her Really Blaine smiled which most likely made him more scary looking. I mean even a nice smile from any wolf looks like they want to eat you. Blaine opened hi mind to everything around them. It was something new to him. Before all of the changes he was plan human. No powers that he knew of just a high iq. So it was hard at first to listen but he wanted to know more. She was so lovely.

Her long dark hair washed around her like a soft light that pull harder at Blaine and Anger. They both wanted her. Something about a dark hair woman drove not only Blaine willed but it also twist Anger into a bit of submission. Then the smell of shifter rose up and it was male. Blaine wrinkled his nose a bit why would she have a shifter around. This night was getting more confusing by the moment. Thats when Anger taught Blaine a new trick.

' Stupid boy talk to her. Hurry before this demon gets me angry again. Use your mind. My gift to you boy.' Was all that echoed in Blaine head. Anger gave him a gift why, O well fuck it or her or wait no bad thought to send her way.

Blaine cleared the distance between Anna and him in second but it felt like years. He head her whimper at the sight of him. It bothered not only him but Anger as well. He felt his body shift in seconds back to human form. His hair tossed lightly in the wind and his dark eyes grazed over her.' Your so lovely.' Blaine thought to her. Anger growled as all of the evils tried to play. But one won over for a moment and thats when his mind went blank.Temptation smashed through Blaine looking over the girl. It was like the evil wanted to leave Blaine in the moment but then Anger pulled her back.' She is his servant and the demon is a bad bad man Blaine kill him.' Temptation hissed and Anger flew into a rage.

Blaine was about to vanish and move back to the fight when He realized how close her was to her. Only inches where held between them. Blaine raise his human hand to her face when he felt Godzilla behind him. So now he had to choices move and kill the bastard as he impale Anna or take the blow. His eyes softened and he smiled as the demon tale rushed through hi body but stopped inches from Anna.

Nat Glanced out the window and saw the blood shed. What the hell was going on with Blaine. First the dead whore and then this. It was like he had to get attention. Yeah after Nat saw who Blaine had killed it was sort of understandable. She was a sickly whore. Blaine was killing sick woman. Why what was he doing and now fighting a demon... Nat rubbed his eyes. Blaine shifted? DO what! Nat growled and shifted as he jumped down the steps and towards the woods.

Nat slide to stop as The demon impaled Blaine. A deep pain filled Nat's heart. My god His friend was going to die no matter how messed up he was right now. All kids go through a time to rebel." Blaine!" Nat yelled and started to rush for them when he saw the boy's face change. Nat stopped again. Something was wrong very very wrong.

" Wrong way to take what is mine. Godzilla." gurgled Blaine. His heart felt it exploded in his chest.

Thump...thump......thump............... His heart slowed and the evils went into a frenzy. It was like feeding time. Temptation wiggled her way to the top and screamed free of Blaine's body Blaine mimicked the evils screams and fell forward on to Anna. Blaine held onto her for a moment and a tear of true sadness rolled down his face." Run." He breathed and pushed her away from them. But it was to late Temptation smashed into the woman full force.

Blaine screamed at the realization both anger and he had. Temptation was trapped inside of the girl they wanted to know. Fuck. Blaine shifted while till impaled. " I swear to fucking good I told you exist only." Blaine snarled and grabbed a hold of Dunhams's tail. With one swift snap Blaine ripped the tail off from behind his back leaving the part the was in his chest there.

" I swear just because I look human or shifter do you really think I would FUCKING die that easy?" Blaine pulled the last part of Dunham's tail out of his chest and looked it over." Hope you can grow a new one." Blaine pulled back and smashed Dunham in the face with his own tail and then eat it. " Still taste like you rolled in ass you stupid mother fucker." The large wound in Blaine's chest slowly started to heal but with all the blood lose just a demon's tail was not going to keep him going much longer.

" Nat grab the girl and the wolf over there. He is a shifter but not sure if he knows he can shift. Just get them out of here now. SHE IS MINE," Blaine growled and stumbled forward. Anger growled but it was so hard for Blaine to even see start. the blood loss was so much. He felt like death could take him but knew he would live ass long as he kept his head.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyTue Jan 20, 2009 1:32 pm

Fear riveted Anna to her spot as Blaine merely stood before her and stared. Everything inside of her screamed for her to run, but her muscles wouldn’t react. They were locked in place, holding her down like dead weight. Like a sitting duck. Would he kill her? She’d learned never to expect anything good from someone Dunham had had anything to do with. He probably would kill her, even after she’d only narrowly escaped with her life from a vampire. The realization made it hard to breathe, and Anna felt incredibly light-headed. She’d never seen anything quite like him, but there was no mistaking his power.

Which was why she was so surprised that he was human when he shifted again, or that he could shift at all. She didn’t know why she didn’t expect it. After all, Dunham could look like a regular man as well. That didn’t make him any less of a monster.

' Your so lovely.'

Anna caught her breath as the unexpected voice trailed through her mind, draining her face of all color left. He could… speak to her through his mind? Could he read it as well? Anna tried not to shiver as she looked at the shape of what was now a man, wondering if he intended to kill her and not understanding the strange flicker of compassion that waved across his face.

Then, the next few moments happened in a rush. Vaguely, she was aware of the sight of Dunham’s malicious face hanging over Blaine’s shoulder, but she’d no more glimpsed it than something else had taken her attention away. At first, she wasn’t sure what it was, but something suddenly burst angrily through Blaine’s chest, impaling him, its shiny point only inches away from her own chest.

As his blood splattered against her, Anna screamed. Her mind blanked with horror, though her senses kept wailing for escape, kept demanding that she flee, but she could do nothing. Nothing but stare fearfully at the man impaled before her, the man she knew was surely going to die.

" Wrong way to take what is mine. Godzilla."

He gurgled nastily on his own blood, and Anna still didn’t understand, but she also couldn’t look away. Though she had the half-hearted notion to scream to Toby for help. She didn’t know what he could possibly do, but he’d become her only friend. She didn’t have time to call for him, even if she’d decided to do so, because the man before her suddenly began to scream as well.

Like a hundred different banshees trapped inside one. Anna screamed too when he fell forward against her, smearing his blood down the front of her shirt, holding onto her in his weakened, perhaps dying moments. She could smell his blood, smell the faint stench of death. Her stomach heaved.

" Run." He breathed and pushed her away from them.

But she didn’t get to take his advice as she stumbled backward, because something else came at her. She barely saw it, barely heard it whistle through the air, but she felt it, she felt all of it, as it suddenly slammed into her, taking her completely off of her feet and knocking her to the ground where she writhed and screamed as something—she didn’t know what—fought to take her body, fought to push her own soul aside so that it could have its own share.

She felt it there, pushing against her own will, as she dug her heels into the ground and arched her back. And then she heard it there, whispering provocatively in her ear, coaxing her into accepting what she didn’t understand. And she didn’t have a choice. It was stronger. So much stronger.
----
Dunham wasn’t certain as to what had happened when he’d stabbed Blaine, but he knew from the start that his plan had horribly backfired. Whatever he was messing with, he didn’t understand it, and as he saw something mistlike bullet out of Blaine and slam into his own Anna instead, Dunham was quite aware that he had failed.

But he didn’t have the chance to be furious. His anger had only started to build when he realized that Blaine was not dead, though he’d stabbed him in the heart. No, quite the contrary, he was alive and pissed, and he jerked around so fast and hard, that Dunham was too weak and confused to retaliate. All he felt was one terrible snap, and then pain came swift and hard and blinding. He screamed pitifully, embarrassingly. Had he not been so abruptly out of his mind with the pain, he would have been humiliated.

But nothing had ever hurt worse, as nothing ever would, than how it felt to have his tail ripped from his body. Tears were in his eyes, blurring his vision. And then, whatever Blaine had hit him in the head with, knocked him nearly unconscious. He roared in pain and fell over sideways, blinded and hurt and humiliated. He had only the indistinct notion that Blaine had decided to have the remains of his tail for dinner, and then he howled again in his own pain and misery as his new stub burned like white hot fire. He’d have preferred death.

“Oh shit. Oh shit,” he babbled, but made no move to stand. He didn’t think he’d ever be able to stand again. But then he heard Blaine speak of Anna, and, ridiculously, his enormous ego shown through it all.

“You can’t. She’s mine! I own her soul!” Dunham hissed through clenched teeth, spitting everywhere.
----
“Now, now, don’t be stingy,” a woman’s voice spoke.

It sounded like Anna, and had, indeed, come from Anna’s mouth where she now stood several feet away, eyeing the scene in a bemused manner, but the voice was more sultry and thick. Much more coy. It was Anna, but, at the same time, it wasn’t. Only the sound of her voice and the strange, unnatural expression in her eyes gave away the difference.

“You should be nice and share,” Anna told him, as Dunham gaped, stupified. “I imagine everyone wants a stake.”

She flashed a flirtatious smile in Blaine’s direction before sauntering toward Nat. She paused just before him, trailing her long, slender fingers down his chest while staring up at him from under her thick lashes.

“So, are you going to take me away then? You first?” she questioned.

She’d like to see the bastards try. Temptation cackled quietly to herself, in full control of Anna’s body. Oh, how glorious to finally have a female body again. How glorious to have complete control. She’d make the men pay, as Anna had always been too timid to do, and she’d break their hearts one by one. It was her specialty, her hobby. She couldn’t wait. One kiss. And then byebye. Idiots.

Temptation giggled, and casually glanced to the side. By chance, her gaze fell across Toby, and somehow, Anna used this to resurface. Gasping, she sagged once against Nat before she pushed herself back to her own feet, her eyes clearing and her normal voice returning.

“What the hell?” she demanded, panicked. “What the hell is going on?”

She’d thought thoughts, she’d said things, and none of it had been her own doing. She felt crowded in her own body. And there was that voice there too. That voice that spoke to her, that told her what to do and how to do it and what to feel. What was it?

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyTue Jan 20, 2009 6:41 pm

He was going to respond to Anna in an attempt to relieve her thoughts of personal insanity but she seemed to ultimately agree with him as she stood up. To avoid any more confusion, he figured he would just talk to her when they got far away to avoid any more delay.

He had turned around and began walking away when he noticed Anna wasn’t following. He quickly turned back around to see the other man standing right in front of her. His heart started pacing and looming with each passing of time as he started running towards her.

She hit the ground hard as she began to have what appeared to be spasms. She was covered in blood which only made Toby’s heart pound harder as he spun towards the attacker. Toby growled only for a second as he noticed the tail protruding from the chest of the man. He was done for, he thought, and his attention was brought back to Anna who was still having convulsions but seemed to be slowing down.

Toby had no idea what to do; he had never dealt with wounds other than his own before. Even then, he hardly called licking “dealing”. He had about a half mind to just start licking when he heard a man yell something about him and the woman. He quickly ran back to where they were hiding to see the man still alive and still very well angry.

This wasn’t good and he decided he had no choice but to drag Anna to safety. He turned back around and panicked even more when he saw that she wasn't there any more. This wasn’t good.

He began to follow her scent when he heard a voice. It sounded like her but he didn’t believe it was her, not the way she was talking. With all that was going on, he decided to stick with his most reliable sense, his nose.

Oddly enough, the scent was leading to the source of the voice.

He arrived to the end of the trail very quickly as it wasn’t far away.

And oddly enough, the voice was coming from Anna.

She said some more things that was way out of her character before she saw him, and seemed to snap back into reality.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyTue Jan 20, 2009 8:40 pm

Nat let a low growl of need rumble i his chest. He wanted her. His eyes grazed of her body and to her lips. He wanted to press her body to his and his lips to hers. Blaine saw Nat and barked," Stay on taste mutt." Anna was not Anna she was more than Evil now then later and Nat was a good guy.

Blaine moved away from the demon and snarled," Leave now while you still have part of your tail Or I will eat the rest of you for dessert. " HIs eyes locked onto Anna and he raced towards her. she was in trouble big time yet when her eyes fell on the shifter she fought back against the Evil just like Blaine could while he was near here. It pained him to see a connection like that with someone other than him. But what did he want love at first sight?

" What now Blaine?" Nat asked as he still watched Anna with a bit of need in his eyes. Blaine walked over to the wolf and looked at him." Can you not turn human wolf?" He asked. It was strange to see that a shifter that can not shift. Most that had that happen never came back to roam with humans or anything like them.

" Anna I hope your okay but its about to get a bit wild for you I am sure."

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyTue Jan 20, 2009 9:13 pm

"Turn human?", responded Toby. It had been a long time since someone had asked him that question. The thought of him having a human form had been forgotten and pushed far back into his memories. He had been a roaming for so long that nothing but the idea that he was a wolf existed.

"Why is that?", Toby questioned in his mind. Even if he didn't have a human form, why had he forgotten about the possibility?

After a short pause, he snapped back into reality and said, "What happened to" Toby paused as he wondered if he should even reveal her name to these people, "..her?"

He wasn't sure if they had an answer or if he even wanted to talk to them but he didn't have any other option or plan.

Toby was also glad to see him defeat the demon but at the same time, worried that the new man may become something worse if he wasn't already.

Regardless, he was more worried for Anna at this point in time and not the future and all he could come up with earlier was to lick her.

Quest to Unleash the Box Empty
PostSubject: Re: Quest to Unleash the Box   Quest to Unleash the Box EmptyMon Jan 26, 2009 7:26 pm

Anna had never seen Dunham run from a fight, but, with a snarling hiss, he did just so. There was a small popping noise as the demon vanished in thin air, though his eyes, seconds before he’d disappeared, had locked onto her. It hadn’t taken any words. She’d seen the unspoken threats and the taste for revenge in that one, furious expression. However, given the current circumstance, she wasn’t exactly afraid. She felt… almost removed.

Let him come back, a voice inside her head giggled. I’d like to play with that one.

Anna felt incredibly uneasy at the sound of this unfamiliar voice again. The woman it now felt was trapped inside of her head. She cringed away from it, but there was no escape, no running from her own body.

However, her attention was momentarily diverted as the sound of conversation finally broke through her thoughts. She heard the man that had just appeared in the clearing talking to the one named Blaine. The one that had given her the voice in her head.

Suddenly more than timid, Anna sidestepped quickly away from Nat and Blaine, consciously or subconsciously moving closer to Toby, she wasn’t sure. Either way, she found herself near him again, almost at his side. Instinctfully, he was the only one she trusted at the moment, as he’d been her only companion for several days now.

She nearly felt a small surge of relief until she heard Toby speaking to the two other men, and then she remembered what he had told her just before Dunham had stabbed Blaine through the heart. Now she looked down at him in disbelief, the man she’d thought was only a wolf. He’d tricked her as well.

"What happened to" Toby paused as he wondered if he should even reveal her name to these people, "..her?"

Anna paused, studying him, catching the reluctant tone in his voice. Whether or not he had tricked her intentionally, it sounded as if he was still protecting her now. As he had been the last several days. She owed him for that. Even her initial reaction of betrayal hadn’t been able to deny that. And it sounded like he hadn’t been a man in awhile anyway. Perhaps he’d just been going on instinct.

I wonder what he looks like as a man… The woman’s voice whispered through her mind again.

A shudder wracked her body as foreign thoughts invaded her mind, none of her own doing. All at once, she was swamped with images of men she’d never seen or known existed, each with a glazed, adoring expression in their eyes. She felt herself tremble, but it wasn’t her own reaction. It was someone else’s as their attention focused on Blaine, then Nat, then Toby. There was curiosity as that inner eye focused on Nat and Toby, but Anna felt a strange sense of casual aloofness as it focused momentarily on Blaine.

Been there. Done that.

Afraid of emotions and memories that weren’t her own, Anna stepped back a few inches closer to Toby, realizing that everyone’s attention was, in one form or another, focused on her. The stranger inside her body seemed amused and pleased by this. Anna was simply confused and frightened.

“I… I’m fine,” she stammered. Far from it.

As if seeking comfort, her hand dropped to Toby’s head, brushing her fingers through his fur. This was just a bad dream. She was hallucinating. “I think it’s time to go. I have to go and find Dunham. He’ll kill me for disobeying him.”
That was rational. That was true. But she suddenly wasn’t very afraid of Dunham anymore. She didn’t know why, but she wasn’t very afraid of anything anymore. At least, not physically, not on the surface. She felt strong, powerful.

In control.

Oh, they’ll all crumble before us, pet. They all will, Temptation’s malicious, delightful voice spoke again.
